2019

Last summer I went to NYC for the first time with one of my best friends, and I’m thankful that I brought my film camera along. The trip was magical, to say the least.

During my last year of college a friend who’s an avid film enthusiast, gave me one of her film cameras when I expressed an interest in learning more about film. Besides worrying the entire trip that I loaded my film in wrong and having the rolls turn out blank lol, it was such a nice change to capture moments in a more analog and organic way.

I became more decisive about what I wanted to photograph, more aware of my environment, and took more time curating the shot knowing that I couldn’t just quickly check to see how the photo turned out. When I dropped the rolls off to be developed many months later, I felt this sense of excitement — a genuine curiosity to receive the scans to see how the images turned out.

I curated a collection of some of my favourites from the trip below.

All photos are shot on a Minolta AF50.
